The Ports Association of Indian Ocean Islands (APIOI / PAIOI)
The Ports Association of Indian Ocean Islands (APIOI / PAIOI) was officially set up in Toamasina (Madagascar) in the 8th May 2007 during a regional economic forum..
It made its first appearance abraod in Hamburg on 25-27 September 2007 at the Seatrade Europe, a major event in the cruise industry circuit.
One of the association’s first objectives is to promote south-west Indian Ocean island ports collectively and offer liners consistent, complementary and different cruise calls opportunities. In addition to cruise promotion, the PAIOI aims at getting its members together more closely and launching programm to study fishing, shipping activities or security and safety partnership.
The first Association Members are Mauritius Ports Authority, Port Reunion, Seychelles Port Autority, Port of Toamasina (Madagascar) , Port of Longoni (Mayotte).
At the last PAIOI General Assembly (15 may 2009), a new board was designed for two years, like below :
